Who We Are
The USF School of Public Affairs is a group of diverse interdisciplinary practitioners. The USF Masters of Public Administration program provides quality education to prepare students for professional and managerial roles in public service. Our program's mission is to provide each student with an opportunity to enhance their knowledge of, and participation in, public service through continuing education, training, and development. We maximize engagement with our community using applied class projects, internships, and the development of mutually beneficial exchanges with practitioners. With a focus on the concerns of our West Central Florida region, we train students to excel in professional and management roles at the local, state, and national levels.
Fundraising for this project is being championed by a group of faculty and Tampa Bay area public administration practitioners committed to growing the program.

About the Professors
The late Professor Jamil Jreisat was the founder of USF's Masters of Public Administration program, and he spent his entire academic career educating future public leaders and strengthening local government in the Tampa Bay area and beyond. As a result of Dr. Jreisat's leadership, the USF MPA program now has several graduates serving as local government leaders throughout Florida and other states, and others as senior officials in state and federal governments, including a former Florida Secretary of State.
The late Professor Joan Pynes founded USF's nonprofit Graduate Certificate Program and worked diligently with nonprofit entities in the Tampa Bay area to enhance the community. She also helped set up the Legislative Internship and Tallahassee Internship Programs which provide students with working knowledge of Florida's government. Many of Dr. Pynes’ former students are now serving as senior leaders in local and nonprofit organizations in the Tampa Bay area.
The Impact
Our goal is to increase student success by providing scholarships for deserving graduate students with a career path in government agencies, nonprofit organizations and special service districts at the local, state and federal levels.
Scholarships funded at the $25,000 level are permanently endowed — meaning an enduring legacy for Drs. Jreisat's and Pynes’ dedication to student success — as well as a guaranteed annual opportunity to help students find opportunities through USFs MPA program.
