The Impact

The Center for Advanced Medical Learning and Simulation (CAMLS) celebrates 10 years of transforming health care through the power of simulation. Health care simulation has been shown to reduce medical errors, improve teamwork and communication, and save lives. CAMLS Without Walls is USF Health’s mobile simulation lab program, bringing health care simulation and skills to underserved and rural communities throughout Florida.  Through this vitally important program, #CAMLSWithoutWalls transforms the delivery of health care, resulting in better patient outcomes and saving lives.

With your support, CAMLS has proudly accomplished so much:

  • Over 2.1 million learner hours awarded in the last five years

  • Hundreds of successful courses and training programs since inception in 2012

  • New mobile ambulance training unit can travel within a 300-mile radius from Tampa

  • Programming and continuing education provided to over 795,000 participants

  • Participants from all 50 states and 38 countries have been educated

We need your support to broaden the geographical impact of this rare health care resource. CAMLS Without Walls funding allows hands-on training to expand beyond its downtown hub to communities within a 300-mile radius of Tampa.

What Your Gifts Will Do

Preparedness for the delivery of care helps meet USF Health's mission of Making Life Better!

Your gifts will transform in situ simulation training programs by bringing equipment, simulation-based curricula, simulation operators and subject matter experts into the greater Tampa Bay community and beyond, touching rural and urban lives.

Your kindness will help support custom simulation curriculum for Safer Deliveries in Under-Served Communities/Rural Hospital Obstetrical courses and Preparing First Responders: Emergency Medical Service training.

Your generosity will support cutting-edge digital learning research for live streaming, virtual reality and on-demand tutorials that focus on patient safety and quality improvement.

Who We Are

The University of South Florida’s Center for Advanced Medical Learning and Simulation (CAMLS) is one of the world’s largest, free-standing simulation facilities exclusively dedicated to training healthcare professionals. CAMLS is part of the USF Health Downtown Initiative. CAMLS provides simulation experiences for educating students, training health care faculty in simulation education, and preparing health care professionals to acquire, maintain and enhance their clinical practice to meet today’s workforce needs and improve patient care in Tampa Bay, Florida, and around the globe.

"We expect perfection, and we expect meticulous care. You don't have to get it right the first time. Simulation gives you the opportunity to do it until you can do it right."  - Dawn Schocken, MPH
