Who We Are
Established in 1969, the USF Botanical Gardens began as an outdoor teaching and learning space for the biology department. The modest teaching space quickly blossomed into a thriving ecosystem. Today, the Botanical Gardens is a vibrant sanctuary encompassing seven acres of cultivated collections and six to nine acres of natural woodland. As part of the College of Arts and Sciences, the gardens provide vital educational, conservation, research and community engagement opportunities.
The Botanical Gardens is solely responsible for raising their own budget. With your support, we can elevate the USF Botanical Gardens and ensure it continues to thrive!
What We Do
At the USF Botanical Gardens we want to see our Bulls blossom. Students across multiple majors and disciplines use the gardens as an immersive outdoor classroom, where they can study plant biology, ecology, environmental science and conservation up close. Our one‑mile woodland trail, themed garden areas and living collections offer constantly evolving opportunities for discovery.
But our work extends far beyond plant displays. We host guided tours, field trips, workshops and community events. Our plant shop and seasonal festivals bring together USF and neighboring communities to learn and celebrate nature.
