Who We Are
USF World values every student. From warm welcomes to fostering a sense of community through social activities and clubs, USF World is dedicated to student success, including when students face hardship.
One of our goals is to help international students stay in school when global crises strike. We have assisted students from Brazil and Colombia, two of our largest international student populations, when economic crises made it difficult for their families to help with daily expenses. USF World has assisted students from war-torn countries, most recently the war in Ukraine, and took swift action to create funding to assist international students during the COVID-19 pandemic. We want to ensure we can continue to support students whose families have been displaced because of natural disasters or other calamities.
We can attest that providing a struggling student as little as $500 can make the difference between dropping out of USF and graduating! With enough support, we hope to endow this fund, providing ongoing support in the future as new needs arise.
What We Do
When international students face unexpected challenges they do not have the same resources as their domestic peers. Amidst a global crisis, the financial support for international students can be disrupted when their families are impacted, and students have limited options. For example, they are not eligible for financial aid and are restricted to working part-time for limited campus jobs.
Despite these obstacles, international students contribute significantly to campus life. From the classroom to USF sporting events, our large and vibrant international student community adds immeasurable value to the overall campus experience, creating an atmosphere of cultural exchange and mutual understanding.
USF World established the International Student Support Fund to help international students facing financial challenges due to crises in their home countries. We invite you to stand with USF international students dealing with the repercussions of global events.
