Clap It Up for SCATT Education Students

Who We Are

Established in 1981, the mission of the Suncoast Area Teachers Training (SCATT) program lives on 43 years later and continues to be a hallmark of the USF College of Education experience for aspiring educators. The SCATT program serves to help inspire, inform and develop our future educators—through extracurricular activities characterized by collaboration, celebration and support—as they prepare to make a difference in their classrooms, schools and communities upon graduation and beyond. 

What We Do

Calling all alumni & friends of the SCATT program! Help make sure that SCATT student experiences continue to inspire our future educators, prepare them for day one in the classroom and create an everlasting community of professional and personal support.

• When we reach the halfway mark to goal of 25 donors – a gift of $2,500 to the SCATT program fund will be unlocked from proud education alumni couple Kerry and Shawn Cerra (Class of 1994). Kerry and Shawn met and USF and count the SCATT program as one of the most meaningful experiences of their time in the USF College of Education. For them, the program prepared them to be Day One Ready to make a significant difference in the classroom and in the lives of their students, schools and communities.  
• When we reach the goal of 50 donors – a gift of $2,500 to the SCATT program fund will be unlocked from Dr. Anila Jain, ’81, who is making this special gift in loving memory of her late mother, Dr. Mohinda “Mona” Jain. Dr. Mona Jain earned her doctorate in education from USF’s College of Education in 1984. She was a trailblazer and lifelong advocate of education. Her legacy continues to serve as an inspiration to all teachers and leaders in education.

Together we have a shared passion for excellence and a commitment to shaping the narrative of education. SCATT has evolved into a close-knit community of aspiring teachers who are not only excited but also deeply motivated to make a meaningful difference in the lives of students.

Through monthly collaborative meetings filled with camaraderie and support, members of SCATT come together to navigate the challenges of the College of Education, problem-solving and brainstorming innovative ways to enhance their internships and reshape the discourse around teaching. We strive to stay up to date with our professional learning and inform ourselves of the latest initiatives and innovations.
