Support Victim Advocacy and Empower Survivors

The Project

Unfortunately, some of our students and employees will experience crime or violence perpetrated against them during their time at USF. In some instances, these individuals have been cut off from their support system or are facing financial hardships as a ramification of the pandemic over the past two years. USF survivors regularly come forward seeking support from the Center for Victim Advocacy & Violence Prevention and often have needs that come with a monetary cost. Our fund is designed to support the financial needs that arise for individuals who have experienced crime or violence. The goal is to ensure that no survivor must pay for those related expenses. 

Who We Are

The Center for Victim Advocacy & Violence Prevention provides free and confidential services to all USF students, faculty and staff. We serve people of all gender identities, gender expressions and sexual orientations who have experienced crime, violence or abuse, on- or off-campus, either recently or in the past. Our advocates are professionals trained to respond with compassion and expertise to victims by providing crisis intervention, advocacy and accompaniment, safety planning, academic and housing assistance, and nonjudgmental support to help them heal through the experience and regain control of their lives. 

Additionally, we strive to prevent all forms of interpersonal violence at USF by providing students with ongoing education and tools to help keep our communities safe. We offer programs and workshops that address topics such as sex-positive consent, healthy relationships, bystander intervention and more.

Your Impact

By donating to this fund, you help to ensure that no survivor has to pay the costs associated with their victimization, providing them with a measure of relief.

What Your Gifts Will Do

Your gifts will allow our professional staff to assist survivors by:
• Purchasing new bedding for survivors of sexual violence who may have turned theirs into law enforcement as evidence.
• Purchasing new locks or pay for lock changes to increase safety for those experiencing relationship violence or stalking.
• Covering the cancellation fee at an apartment complex to allow someone the opportunity to relocate away from an abusive partner.
• Covering the costs of crime-related medical needs and transportation to and from law enforcement agencies and court.
