The Project

DanceUSF needs your help to send six talented students to participate in the International Creative Dance Seminar at Beijing Normal University in October 2019. This will be the opportunity of a lifetime. Our goal is to assist in providing airfare, travel and visa expenses so that our students can focus on the immersive experience of traveling to China to continue their studies and exploration of dance. Once the students arrive in Beijing, the host university will provide housing.

The University of South Florida School of Theatre and Dance is a department committed to facilitating creative and academic artists and scholars and their synthesis in culturally diverse performance. As a department, we are committed to finding ways for our students to experience the global dance collective.

the Challenge

As avid supporters of the arts, Harry, '77 and Vera Greene have made a gift of $500 and challenge others to join in the commitment to providing the opportunity of a lifetime to our talented students as they participate in the International Creative Dance Seminar. Will you accept the challenge?

yOur Impact

The USF/China Exchange Program is a unique opportunity for dancers to have an artistic, cultural and educational experience in China. The International Creative Dance Seminar offers students the chance to interact with faculty and students from many different countries that come together to share the common language of dance. Through diverse classes such as Chinese Traditional Folk Dance, Tibetan Dance, Contemporary Modern Dance, Dance Improvisation and World Dance, students will gain a rich knowledge about the artistry of different world cultures.

Additionally, DanceUSF students will share the stage with other international students and have the opportunity to experience the choreography of renowned choreographers and network with both students and faculty from around the world. Through various dance and social events, DanceUSF students will create life-long connections and friendships with the international participants.

While in China, students will also travel to some of the iconic landmarks within Beijing and beyond including The Great Wall of China, the Summer Palace, Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City. Traveling to this kind of diverse culture helps to shape them as artists and global citizens.

ThaNK You

Your gifts will support a life-changing international experience for these USF student dancers. If you are moved to give to this cause, we appreciate your generous support. You can help as well by spreading the word about our project! Please feel free to pass along on social media or text/email to anyone that you think might be interested and moved to assist.

Thank you so much! We are excited to be able to offer this opportunity to the DanceUSF community. It is thoughtful people like you who make programs like this possible for our talented students.
