Established in summer 2020, the USF Women in Leadership & Philanthropy (WLP) InvestInHER Emergency Student Support fund is intended to promote the retention and persistence of our current WLP scholars who are experiencing unexpected financial need. This initiative, led by Dr. Liana Fernandez Fox and a committee of WLP member leaders, requires ongoing financial support.

who we are

The USF Women in Leadership & Philanthropy (WLP) program is focused on engaging and educating its members in support of women and women’s initiatives throughout USF’s three campuses – Tampa, St. Petersburg, and Sarasota-Manatee – and in our communities.

Formed in 2005 with the leadership of USF President Emerita and Professor Judy Genshaft and longtime USF supporter Carol Morsani, and supported by founding members comprised of Tampa Bay’s leading philanthropists, business professionals, and entrepreneurs, WLP members convene to support a common purpose: promoting the educational and research endeavors of women throughout the University and in our communities. Leveraging the power of our individual and collective talents and resources, members work together to affect real and lasting change in the lives of students and faculty and enrich the intellectual and societal fabric of our region.

the impact

The WLP InvestInHER Emergency Student Support Fund was established in 2020 by a group of generous donors to serve as an enhancement to the support WLP already provides to our scholarship students. WLP emergency student support funding is not intended to be a means of ongoing support, but rather to be used for short-term hardships, unexpected expenses, and/or financial emergencies.

what your gifts will do

Current WLP scholars who are full or part-time students, at any academic level, pursuing any major in any college, and on any campus are eligible to apply for grants up to $1,000.
