Empowering USF Nursing Students During COVID-19

The USFSM Nursing Fund supports USF Health College of Nursing’s Accelerated Second Degree Pathway at the Sarasota-Manatee campus, helping students who are working towards completing their nursing degrees and launching successful nursing careers.

Graduates of USF Health College of Nursing, including the Sarasota-Manatee campus Nursing cohort, are facing new challenges and intense working conditions due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Self-help and wellness training, plus one-on-one faculty support, are essential to the success and well-being of our graduating nursing students.

The College of Nursing, with the support of the USFSM Nursing Fund, has created valuable programs to empower our nursing students with useful knowledge, skills and tools to navigate the exceeding demands of the pandemic and to support their health and well-being.

The USFSM Nursing Fund has also supported initiatives to facilitate students’ transitions from USF to local professional nursing roles — helping to keep skilled graduates in our Sarasota-Manatee community and alleviating the shortage of nurses in the health care industry.

Your support of the USFSM Nursing Fund will empower students in the USF Health College of Nursing’s Accelerated Second Degree Pathway at the Sarasota-Manatee campus take control of their health and persevere during and beyond this pandemic. It will also help retain and attract nurses who are committed to remaining in the Sarasota-Manatee area.

Specifically, gifts to this fund will:

• Decrease levels of physical, emotional, and mental stress for USF-College of Nursing students
• Increase clinical opportunities for USF College of Nursing graduates
• Increase the numbers of baccalaureate-level nurses who enter our local workforce, thus improving the quality of care nurses provide
• Increase the number of novice nurses who remain in their nursing careers

Your support will have a lasting impact on the improved health and success of our USF nursing students and novice nurses, thus improving the quality of care they provide and the overall vitality of our community.
