the project

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused unprecedented challenges for the healthcare system and has also impacted the BRIDGE Clinic. The clinic is open once weekly at the Morsani Center, an outpatient center located on the USF Health campus, and is led by physicians, faculty, and student volunteers from various medical disciplines including medicine, physical therapy, pharmacy, public health, and social work. We hope to raise funds in order to continue providing high-quality care to our patients, who need it now more than ever.

who we are

The BRIDGE Clinic is a student-run free clinic located at USF that serves uninsured adults from the underserved communities that surround the university. Our goal is to create a health facility where patients are treated compassionately and cared for through the collaboration of medicine, social work, physical therapy, pharmacy, and public health providers. We believe in the project's ability to succeed because many people share our mission to improve the well-being of the community.

the impact

Given the unprecedented challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic, our clinic has shifted to providing the majority of patient visits via telehealth using a platform called Doxy.me. We want to renew our subscription, so we can continue to provide services safely for our patients. For our diabetic patients, the BRIDGE Clinic would like to continue purchasing their insulin as well as diabetic supplies such as glucometers, test strips and lancets. In addition, we want to continue our Freestyle Libre continuous glucose monitoring program, which has helped in improving glucose control in our difficult to manage diabetics. BRIDGE Clinic plans to continue administering adult preventative vaccinations per the guidelines created by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Advisory Committee Immunization Practices (ACIP) including tetanus, whooping cough, pneumonia, shingles, and influenza. Since our ultimate goal is to provide high-quality care to our patients, these expenses will allow us to remain both functional and flexible during the COVID-19 pandemic.
