Who We Are
The Healthy Minds Lab (now the SCALE Institute) is part of the USF Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurosciences. We are a team of researchers, practitioners, students and community partners working together to improve the delivery of mental health support.
Our work is grounded in partnership and guided by lived experience. We focus on creating solutions that can be sustained within communities and shared across settings so that effective support is not limited by geography, cost or access to traditional systems of care.
What We Do
Across our communities, too many young people and families are left to navigate mental health challenges without clear, consistent support. Services can be difficult to access, hard to sustain or disconnected from the realities of daily life. The Healthy Minds Lab works alongside community-based organizations to develop, evaluate and implement mental health treatment and skill-building programs that reach people where they are - at home, in schools and in the community. Our focus is not just on what works, but on what works in real life. By partnering directly with those closest to the need, we help ensure that support is practical, trusted and scalable to meet demand.
Your Impact
Your gift helps turn partnership into action. It enables us to work directly with community organizations to design and deliver mental health programs that reflect the needs and strengths of the people they serve.
Support from donors helps us launch pilot programs, engage youth and families, train the next generation of mental health leaders and bring practical, skill-building approaches into everyday settings where they can make a lasting difference.
Every contribution helps expand access to care that is not only evidence-based but also trusted, accessible and built to last. Many individuals and families, this means having the tools, support and confidence to keep moving forward, even when the path is uncertain.
