Who We Are

2023 is the Jubilee year for the University of South Florida College of Nursing! We celebrate 50 years of excellence in nursing education.

For the last five decades, the college has been steadfast in its commitment to providing excellence in nursing education. Striving to live by its mission to employ the core values of excellence, innovation, inclusion, and respect to educate future nurses, advance nursing science and implement evidence-based clinical practice to improve health and wellness.

Founded in 1973, the College of Nursing is one of 14 colleges that comprise the University of South Florida (USF). USF is in the vibrant and diverse Tampa Bay region, with campuses in Tampa, St. Petersburg, and Sarasota-Manatee. Together these campuses serve over 50,000 students and offer undergraduate, graduate, specialist, and doctoral degrees. The students are a diverse group, coming from every state, every U.S. territory and more than 145 countries worldwide. Student diversity is growing with 18% Hispanic students, 11% African American, and 7% Asian.

What We Do

Every day, the USF Health College of Nursing works to educate trailblazing nurses committed to excellence, innovation, inclusion and respect for everyone. We advance nursing science and evidence-based clinical practice to improve health and wellness.

Elevating Nursing Education
As USF has earned elite status with its recent invitation to join the Association of American Universities, our graduate programs are also ranked first among Florida public universities. U.S. News ranked USF’s Master of Science in Nursing program No. 31 and Doctor of Nursing Practice No. 33 among nursing programs nationwide.

Expanding Access to Health Care
The College of Nursing has long provided health care to medically underserved populations in Tampa Bay, including partnerships with the Port of Tampa, Salvation Army and other organizations. The new 38-foot Mo-Bull Nurse Medical Clinic, staffed by advanced practice registered nurses, a patient care coordinator, a faculty preceptor and nursing students will expand these services to more patients in need.
