Who We Are

We are a global research university, dedicated to advancing knowledge, fostering innovation, preparing students for the future and growing with the Sarasota-Manatee community we call home.  

The USF Sarasota-Manatee campus is on the verge of its next big moment, with two transformative construction projects being planned — its first-ever on-campus Student Center and Residence Hall and a Nursing/STEM building. 

What We Do

On March 1, we broke ground on the first-ever Student Center and Residence Hall on the Sarasota-Manatee campus. The six-story, 100,000-square-foot building, going up along the south side of the campus courtyard, is scheduled to open in the fall of 2024 as the on-campus home for as many as 200 students.  

The first two floors will include a ballroom, dining facilities, a bookstore, lounges, meeting space and offices for USF World, Student Government and other organizations. The top four floors will include residences of varying sizes and additional collaborative space.  

A second campus expansion project in development is the Nursing/STEM building. This academic building is being planned and designed for a spot across the campus courtyard from the student center and residence hall. 

The Nursing/STEM building will define the future of the USF Sarasota-Manatee campus by training the next generation of nurses, health care professionals and problem solvers. Advanced labs and research facilities will bring top faculty who will educate students and conduct research that generates new ideas, innovations and jobs that will attract companies in biotech and beyond.

The campus expansion projects will enhance student success, boost student recruitment and retention efforts, and grow on-campus engagement, as well as provide advanced labs and research facilities with additional programs to support career preparation for nursing and STEM-related fields. 

The Nursing/STEM Building will be designed with flexibility for future generations, to prepare for careers and technologies not yet imagined, in a dynamic destination where education aligns to meet workforce demands.
