Who We Are

We are proud alumni and honorees of the Muma College of Business 25 under 25 Award program.

The Good Things Happen Scholarship was created by alumni to honor Lorie Briggs, the award-winning director of communications and marketing at our college. As students, we all had a front-row seats to the vital role Lorie’s hard work and dedication played in establishing the Muma College of Business as one of the nation’s highest-ranking business colleges.

Lorie’s commitment to the college and students knows no bounds. At any given time, Lorie would help us secure internships, find volunteer opportunities or connect us to potential employers. She took the time to build relationships with every honoree and we each graduated with a supporter and steady ally in our corner. Even after graduation, Lorie is quick to offer a letter of recommendation or a simple career/life check-in through email or text.

Our goal is simple: build the Good Things Happen Scholarship up to a level where the scholarship can be awarded in perpetuity. In doing so, we are not only honoring Lorie, but we are continuing her legacy of nurturing the next generation of students.

What We Do

If you’ve crossed paths with Lorie, you’ve likely heard the phrase, “Good things happen to those who say, ‘yes’ to Lorie Briggs.”

And it’s true. Just ask the hundreds of students Lorie has mentored, asked to volunteer at a college event or called upon to speak to be the representative “student voice.”

This project honors Lorie’s over 15 years of dedication to the USF Muma College of Business. The scholarship will provide financial support for students majoring in marketing, advertising or mass communications at the University of South Florida.

Your Impact

By saying “yes” to the Good Things Happen Scholarship, you are saying “yes” to Lorie Briggs. Your gift will help grow the scholarship fund.

Gifts made to the Good Things Happen Scholarship will have an immediate impact and ensure Lorie Briggs's legacy of inspiring students will be felt for many years!

The award is given annually to a full-time student at any academic level who is pursuing a marketing, advertising or mass communications degree on the Tampa campus. The scholarship allows recipients to get a world-class education with less financial burden. There is a special preference for students who have completed an internship at the USF Muma College of Business or served as an informal ambassador for the college.

USF Faculty and Staff: You can give online through this site, or complete this payroll deduction form (fund #200131, Good Things Happen Scholarship) and email it to fscampaign@usf.edu.

Appreciation

Thank you for saying "YES" and making a contribution to the Good Things Happen Scholarship. Together, we will continue to make "Good Things Happen" and sustain Lorie's legacy at the Muma College of Business.
