WLP/Elicia Renee Byrd Endowed Service Scholarship
The Women in Leadership and Philanthropy Scholarship Program will offer scholarships to full or part-time students, at all academic levels, pursuing all majors, in all colleges, on all campuses. This scholarship is based on merit, with a preference for financial need, and can be awarded 1 semester. The donor would like to fund student participation in service immersion programs (like Bulls Service Breaks and similar programs) that offer a unique opportunity for travel to a new region or country, be heavily engaged in direct service, and participate in cultural immersion experiences. Students must be willing to participate in service that can be both person-to-person as well as manual labor (i.e. painting, moving furniture, cleaning, building, etc.) while on the experience. Donor's gift is given with the intent of encouraging the student's appreciation for volunteer service and philanthropy. Applicants must provide a one-page personal statement that illustrates the impact that the scholarship will make on their life and how it will shape their appreciation of service-oriented volunteerism, philanthropy, and the need to "pay it forward".
