Lifting as We Climb — Support the Latino Community

The Project

Latino and Hispanic students are not only a demographic who faces both academic challenges and opportunities but are growing at a rapid rate in higher education. Due to this rapid growth, scholarships are becoming more readily available to help this population afford college, but there is still a need for additional support as a result of competitiveness. 

The USF Latino Scholarship is a university-wide, undergraduate (incoming freshman or junior level transfer) scholarship designed to assist USF in achieving and sustaining the education benefits of diversity and increasing the number of USF students interested in issues affecting the Latino community and/or likely to give back to the Latino community after graduation. 

Who We Are

Founded in 1992 by generous members of the Latino community, the Latino Scholarship Program (LSP) creates pathways to higher education for Latinx students and provides them with tools for success upon graduation. Since its inception, LSP has awarded more than $4.2 million to over 600 graduates. The program currently supports more than 40 new and 100 returning students. Established in response to a growing need to support youth involved in the Hispanic community, LSP supports USF by recruiting, retaining and graduating students through the support of donations and of donors who establish operating or endowed scholarships.

Receiving your support will not only encourage Latino and Hispanic students to achieve in the classroom, but also equip them with resources and tools to succeed at their fullest potential post-graduation. Planting your seed, of any size, will help our students follow their dreams through professional development, academic enhancement and strong financial assistance. With your support, we are shaping the leaders, community allies and barrier breakers of this generation!

Professional development workshops, mentoring and scholarships will continue to play a significant role in their academic career. They will also be able to concentrate on learning and connecting with others, which will ultimately have an impact as a gift that keeps on giving for years to come.
