The Project

The heart of the USF Black Faculty and Staff Association centers on support for Black faculty, staff, and students at the University of South Florida. BFSA strives to engage in activities that benefit its mission, such as establishing an endowed scholarship. Each year, BFSA provides scholarships to two (2) students who demonstrate need and have career plans that will impact the Black Community in the future. 

Who We Are

The USF Black Faculty and Staff Association was founded in 1972. Members are Faculty, Staff, Students from USF and Tampa Bay Community. BFSA focuses on social support, professional networking, advocacy, and representative action within the University and surrounding communities. The organization also supports the continued work of Black institutional organizations focused on matters of concern to Black faculty, staff, and students at the University of South Florida. 

Your Impact

One of the goals of the USF BFSA is to contribute to the success of underrepresented, underserved black students by awarding scholarships. Now more than ever — amid the pandemic and financial hardships families are facing around the globe — scholarships have the power to transform lives. The students who receive BFSA scholarships are able to persist to graduation with one less financial burden. 

What Your Gifts Will Do

Gifts made to the BFSA Scholarship Fund will benefit a deserving student. Scholarships funds get put to immediate use in support of our students’ most pressing needs. Each student will have a brighter tomorrow because of the gifts of today.
