USF's Society of Aeronautics and Rocketry (SOAR) is competing in the Base 11 Space Challenge to be the winner of the $1,000,000 grand prize for being the FIRST university team to send a liquid-propelled rocket to space — 100 kilometers in altitude. In order to reach the goal, we are working on our next rocket, "Big Papa," to get closer to the line.
Steven H. Voss, '69, has made a generous gift of $2,500 to challenge fellow alumni and friends to join his commitment to SOAR. Once we raise $10,000, Mr. Voss will gift an additional $2,500. Help UNLOCK the challenge gift while helping SOAR to reach new heights — and in space — with your gift of any size!
Who We Are
SOAR is a multi-disciplinary organization that provides opportunities for students to enhance their knowledge in research and gain tangential skills pertinent to the aerospace industry. We build and launch rockets and believe that the sky is NOT the limit!
SOAR promotes engineering education with our outreach programs that impact more than 1,000 students annually. We are the only organization available to students with an aerospace interest on campus.
Rockets are expensive and we currently lack the necessary equipment and components to safely develop and test our projects. With the support of donors like you, we can have the capital necessary to create a sustainable rocketry program and help fuel USF's race to space for the $1,000,000 grand prize.
What Your Gifts WIll do
Gifts of any size will go towards the development of long-term systems and desperately needed plumping components that will be used to build "Big Papa." Your generosity will expedite our project timeline and push us six months ahead of our production schedule.
