USf Black Leadership Network
The Black Leadership Network (BLN) is a partnership-based group focused on engaging the community and enhancing the educational and leadership opportunities for African American scholars at USF.
The story that BLN seeks to eliminate is reflected in our current social climate: people who are unseen, unheard and ultimately undervalued — a good student who fell by the wayside simply because they did not have the funds to stay in school. Our goal is to ensure that these students are provided with a fair and equitable chance to succeed.
BLN is continuing to make an impact in the lives of our students during COVID-19:
- BLN is a proud partner with the professional development experts at Kinetic Employment Solutions to offer "Shining through the Shutdown," a summer workshop series featuring three digital sessions that specifically address challenges created by COVID-19. Student workshops include topics such as mental health tips during the pandemic, increasing online productivity and cultivating new skills.
- BLN Summer Monthly Meetups are held the last Thursday of every month. The virtual gatherings allow BLN scholars to connect with their peers, discuss shared experiences and provide support for personal and academic challenges.
Your Impact
Your generosity allows us to assist more students than we are currently able with resources available. Your gifts support student scholarships and programs that focus on life skills, professional development and mentoring. BLN allows contributors to partner with students as they grow, thrive and become the leaders of tomorrow.
In the 2020-21 academic year, we are projected to award 63 students more than $85,000 — a 47% increase over the year prior in the number of students we are able to impact through scholarship, mentorship and professional development from the previous academic year. Your contributions to the BLN Scholarship will allow us to continue our intention to increase support to African American scholars.
