This Project
Florida faces a critical shortage of STEM educators and Hillsborough County is feeling the impact. With 67 high school STEM teaching positions currently unfilled, the need for innovative solutions has never been greater.
That’s where IgniteED comes in.
This exciting new initiative from the USF College of Education, in partnership with Hillsborough County Public Schools and Scoutlier, is designed to ignite interest in STEM teaching careers among high school students, starting with five local schools.
With your support, we’ll establish STEM Future Florida Educators of America (FFEA) clubs in five Hillsborough County high schools. These student-led groups will be guided by Noyce Master Teaching Fellows and offer:
- Hands-on STEM activities powered by Scoutlier’s STEM kits
- Guest speakers and mentorship from current STEM educators
- Campus visits to USF’s College of Education
- Leadership workshops and career exploration
- Peer mentoring opportunities with younger students
Each club will receive $2,000 to cover materials, snacks, guest speaker stipends and student incentives — key ingredients for building excitement and engagement.
Your investment helps build a homegrown pipeline of future STEM educators and students who will return to teach in their own communities, inspire the next generation and strengthen the region’s STEM workforce.
These clubs are reflective of a growing movement.
Your Impact
Your donation will directly fund the launch of STEM FFEA clubs at:
- King High School
- Tampa Bay Tech High School
- Blake High School
- Middleton High School
- Chamberlain High School
- Together, we can empower 50 students in their first year of the program to explore STEM teaching as a career and begin building a brighter future for Florida’s classrooms
Gifts will be used to:
- Provide support to each of the five high schools
- Cover club materials, snacks and student incentives
- Support faculty advisors and guest speaker stipends
- Fund STEM kits and training provided by Scoutlier
- Facilitate transportation for USF campus visits
