WLP/Kitty Daniels Scholarship in Music and Music Education

Scholarship Criteria
This scholarship is for full or part-time students in the College of The Arts, majoring in music and music education. Funding is renewable for up to 12 semesters (to allow a student to go through undergraduate and graduate courses). Students must meet requirements for renewal. Renewal will be automatic to the student (no additional application), pending student eligibility and fund availability, up to a maximum of 12 semesters/6 years of study. Preference for financial need and students involved in issues impacting women and/or who plan to pursue a career focused on issues that impact women.
History
Kitty Daniels is an African American Jazz musician, with many amazing talents. Kitty started with playing the piano at just 18 months old, Growing up in a racially divided America, she made it her mission to thrive in her hometown music industry by independently changing the laws for black musicians.
Some of her most notable collaborations include Etta James, B.B. King, Dizzie Gillespie, and James Brown. The Documentary ""Kitty Daniels with Majid Shabazz Jazz Legends"" explores the impact Kitty made and what she's up to now.
