About the WLP Mentoring Program
The WLP Mentoring Program creates meaningful connections between Women in Leadership & Philanthropy (WLP) members and student scholarship recipients, fostering an environment where participants can learn, grow, share experiences, and build lasting relationships.
Rooted in WLP's mission to inspire leadership, philanthropy, and lifelong success, the program pairs students with accomplished professionals and community leaders who provide guidance, encouragement, and real-world perspective throughout the academic year. These mentor-mentee relationships often extend well beyond a student's time at USF, helping scholars build confidence, expand their networks, and navigate both personal and professional opportunities.
At the same time, the program offers WLP members a rewarding and accessible way to invest in the next generation of leaders by sharing their knowledge, experiences, and passion for giving back. Together, mentors and mentees strengthen the WLP community while advancing USF's commitment to transforming lives across Tampa Bay and beyond.

Mentor Commitment: 2026-2027 Academic Year
Mentors are asked to:
- Participate in scheduled mentor-mentee meetings throughout the academic year.
- Support their mentee in setting and working toward personal, academic, and professional goals.
- Attend the WLP Mentoring Mixer on October 27, 2026.
- Attend the Foundation Scholars Etiquette Dinner with their mentee on February 4, 2027.
- Remain actively engaged and responsive throughout the mentorship experience.

Interested in being matched with a mentor?
Click above to apply for the WLP Mentoring Program. Mentee applications will be accepted through September 30, 2026, and available mentor matches are limited. We encourage students to submit their applications early for the best opportunity to be paired with a mentor who aligns with their interests, goals, and aspirations.
Other ways to be a WLP mentor
- WLP Mentoring Committee: Members may volunteer on the WLP Mentoring Committee, which serves as a conduit to connect students and WLP members through mentorship and student focused events. This committee meets only a few times a year and in collaboration with the WLP Student Council helps facilitate professional development events each semester.
- WLP Events: Members are encouraged to attend WLP events throughout the year, where they will be provided with the opportunity to meet USF students in the WLP scholarship program. Events hosted by WLP strive to bring students and members together to provide a space for forming special bonds that continue long after graduation.
- Establish a WLP Scholarship: Many WLP members have established named scholarships that assist USF students in reaching their educational goals. Each year, these members receive letters from the students benefitting from their scholarships and can request to connect with their WLP scholar via phone, email, or in person.
