The College of Behavioral and Community Sciences faculty and staff work with community partners to prepare students to become service providers, administrators, scholars and policy makers committed to improving the quality of life, health, and safety of diverse populations. Creating Innovative Solutions
Faculty members in the College of Behavioral and Community Sciences conduct high impact research that promotes sustainable development and positive societal change. They are experts in an array of subjects from childhood development to aging research, from the criminal justice system to human communications, from meeting human service needs to promoting the health and well-being of persons with mental illness and substance abuse disorders.
The multidisciplinary focus of our college challenges students to become creative thinkers with an interdisciplinary approach to learning.
You will find the faculty, staff and students of the College of Behavioral and Community Sciences influencing the quality of life in communities everywhere. The Center for Autism and Related Disabilities has served nearly 20,000 individuals in need of support. The Florida Center for Inclusive Communities provides services to improve the lives of the 240,000 Floridians with developmental disabilities. The Speech, Language and Hearing Center provides nearly 50,000 hours of speech and hearing services to the community annually. And the Florida/Caribbean AIDS Education and Training Center has provided training to over 300,000 health and mental health personnel in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of HIV disease.
